BESST Project outcomes presented at European Sport Business School in Valencia and Madrid campuses and Sport Management School in Lausanne

Daniela Negreda, Advisor and Business Strategist at IGNTIX, recently led a series of impactful safeguarding sessions on latest outcomes of the BESST project at the European Sport Business School (ESBS) campuses in Valencia and Madrid, followed by an equally insightful presentation at the Sports Management School (SMS) in Lausanne. Her sessions reached over 150 students and staff across these campuses, focusing on safeguarding principles essential to shaping future sports professionals.

Over three sessions at ESBS and one comprehensive session at SMS Lausanne, Daniela Negreda guided students through the key outcomes of the BESST project, the fundamental concepts of safeguarding, highlighting three pillars: awareness, protection, and prevention. Using real-world examples and interactive discussions, she engaged students in the urgent need for vigilance and proactive measures against transgressive behaviours within sports settings. The Lausanne session, attended by approximately 50 SMS students, expanded her mission to spread safeguarding awareness across institutions and into the broader sports industry.

Feedback from students at both ESBS and SMS Lausanne underscores the importance of such programs in preparing the next generation of sports professionals. “Learning about safeguarding from an expert like Daniela Negreda was inspiring,” said one student at ESBS. “It gave me the tools I need to ensure that my future workplace is safe for everyone.” Students across campuses left equipped with not only the knowledge but also a proactive approach to create positive change in their future roles.

Daniela Negreda’s sessions at educational institutions are a good example of how  to support the next wave of sports professionals. Through knowledge-sharing and capacity-building initiatives, the BESST project outcomes continue to lead efforts in creating a safer, more inclusive sports industry.

About the project BESST

The project Building European Safe Sport Together (BESST) is funded by the Erasmus+ programme from the European Commission. BESST developed a unified definition for the foundation of a European sports environment free of transgressive behaviours. With strong partners delivering academic research, a continent-wide network of organisations for dissemination, legal and project management, events delivery and sports organisations, the project has a full circle range of professionals with four key deliveries that effectively raise the maturity of the European sports on its safeguarding readiness.

The BESST project team consists of the following organisations: European Olympic Academies, IGNITX, Windesheim University of Applied Sciences, Rudi Hiti Academy, UEFA Foundation for Children, NOC of Netherlands (NOC*NSF), and NOC of Slovenia.
The project aimed:

  1. To develop a modern definition of transgressive behaviour in sport, with an extensive literature review of the most recent studies.
  2. To assess the statuses level of European sports organisations and event organisers.
  3. To develop legal frameworks with policies and procedures proposal for European sports organisations.
  4. To provide an awareness and education tool kit, facilitating the entities to use their communications channels to educate their communities about transgressive behaviour.
